A proven leader, he contributes his time and talents to the strategic development of the business line and the mentorship of upcoming leaders within the firm. In addition to his operational role, Jim chairs the Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming, an employee resource group whose mission is to create a culture that recognizes the skills, contributions, and value that military veterans bring; fosters veteran recruiting and career growth; and supports veterans and their families. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University. He is part of a proud military family that expands five generations. His great grandfather served in World War I, his grandfather in World War II, his father during post-Korean War, and his son is currently an ROTC cadet.  “We are proud of Jim’s incredible career. He harnesses his experiences to better serve our community, our clients, our colleagues, and our firm. He’s not just a construction icon he’s also a hero,” said Anthony C. Ferruccio, PE, Gannett Fleming senior vice president and director of construction services. In 2017, Jim retired from the Army National Guard after 33 years of service. He attained the rank of brigadier general before his retirement. During his tenure, Jim led the 192nd Engineer Battalion as part of the “surge” in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2006-2007, he oversaw all counter-improvised explosive device missions and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service.
