Healthcare construction professional with diversified experience from business development, space programming, architecture & design, to project management, program management, and owners representation. As a half-Norwegian and half-Japanese foreigner, I went from architecture school and a career in healthcare design to pivoting towards design-build project management in healthcare. It was quite the shift on many levels. Diversity and inclusion has become an ongoing mission at the current project I am working on, The Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY. My team and I there have worked hard on initiatives to organically build interest for the industry, starting at the youth level - including a Build a Hospital contest, mock RFP's, career days and panel discussions, and more. (The Build a Hospital contest was such a success last year, it was launched nationally by Hammes this year!) If we have in some small way widened the horizon for someone who may not have thought this field was for them, then it will have been worth it. This sandbox is for everyone - come on in!
