Sourcing materials shouldn’t be the most unpredictable part of a project, yet for many builders, it still is. BuildDirect is a North American building materials platform designed to simplify procurement and improve pricing transparency. Ahead of New York Build, we spoke with the BuildDirect team about reducing friction in material sourcing and supporting Pro customers across residential, multifamily, and light commercial projects. 

 

1. Tell us a bit about BuildDirect to start with 

BuildDirect is a North American building materials platform focused on serving builders, contractors, designers, and property professionals. While we’re best known for flooring, our role goes beyond product supply; we help project teams source materials more efficiently, control costs, and stay on schedule. We work with customers across residential, multifamily, and light commercial projects, combining national scale with dedicated Pro support. 

 

2. How does your platform help builders, remodelers, and project teams find and source products more easily? 

At a high level, we remove friction from the sourcing process. Builders can access consistent pricing, project-based quotes, and a single point of contact rather than managing multiple vendors. Our platform is designed to make it easier to compare options, secure availability, and align delivery with real-world jobsite timelines – which is often where traditional sourcing breaks down.

3. Supply chain and availability have been major topics of discussion for the industry. What trends are you seeing around how contractors and builders are approaching material sourcing today? 

What we’re seeing is a shift away from purely price-driven decisions toward reliability and predictability. Contractors want fewer surprises – locked-in pricing, clear lead times, and confidence that materials will arrive when crews are ready. There’s also growing demand for partners who can support multiple projects at once, rather than one-off transactions. 

 

4. What can visitors expect to see or learn when they stop by the BuildDirect stand at this year’s New York Build? 

Visitors can expect practical conversations focused on how we support Pro customers day-to-day. We’ll be highlighting our Pro Builder Program, including wholesale pricing, guaranteed delivery dates, storage and ship-when-ready options, and dedicated service. The goal is to show how we help builders protect margins and stay on schedule.

5. What are you hoping to get out of New York Build, and how does being part of the event support your goals for growth and engagement in the US construction market? 

New York Build is a great opportunity to connect directly with builders, contractors, and project teams who are actively working in the market. For us, it’s about building relationships, understanding regional challenges, and expanding our Pro footprint in the U.S. Being part of the event supports our broader goal of becoming a long-term partner for construction professionals nationwide.
