InstallerSHOW NYC exhibitor Q&A: Pipex

InstallerSHOW NYC exhibitor Q&A: Pipex

Spokesperson: Jaume Brossa, Sales Manager & Co-founder

For US readers new to Pipex, tell us about the company’s background

Pipex began with PEXa pipe production 25 years ago and has become one of Europe’s leading producers by volume. We’ve expanded from being a “pipes-only” manufacturer to delivering complete solutions – multilayer pipes, a full range of fittings, and integrated systems such as underfloor heating, manifolds and controls. That breadth means customers can source a coherent system from one manufacturer with tight process control and consistent quality.

What sets your product portfolio apart in such a competitive market?

I would say it’s two things: depth and focus on OEM. Few suppliers design and produce such a wide variety of pipe types in-house while also providing matching fittings and system components. We specialise in OEM partnerships, so our engineering and service models are built around meeting large customers’ specifications rather than competing with them in the market. That clarity builds trust and long-term relationships. First, we listen our client’s needs, and then we offer our solution to them, always knowing that we will not be their competitor.

Pipex

How did you approach the US market and what have you learned?

Entering the US market was a very deliberate and data-led decision. We studied the market for years before launch and learned that chlorine-resistance, sizing differences and local specs all required tailored products. We started selling about six years ago, with a small team focused on major OEMs. The goal is fit-for-purpose design and supply – not building a big direct sales force or competing with customers’ brands. We want to be the factory of our partners.

Sustainability is a central theme of InstallerSHOW NYC. How are you embedding it in Pipex?

It starts with operations. 100% of our electricity is renewable, with roughly 35% generated on our own rooftops and the rest contracted from certified sources. We recycle 100% of production waste, including crystalline polymers, and we only sell what we manufacture, giving full transparency over material choices and processes. Technically, plastic piping has a lower embodied energy than many alternatives, so the system choice itself supports lower lifetime impact when correctly specified and installed.

There’s public confusion around plastics. How do you address misconceptions about plastic pipes?

Not all plastics or applications are equal. Pipes are durable, long-life infrastructure, not single-use items. The sector’s challenge is to separate microplastic headlines from the facts about modern piping: efficiency in production, recyclability of in-process waste, and long service life. We support industry bodies in the US to help educate specifiers and installers on the data and standards behind today’s pipe systems.

What will you showcase at InstallerSHOW NYC, and what should visitors take away?

We are exhibiting to demonstrate solutions so OEM partners and end users can see how our pipes, fittings and system components work together for performance and reliability. If visitors leave with three points, they’re these: (1) Pipex provides complete, compatible systems; (2) we’re OEM-centric and won’t compete with our customers; and (3) our sustainability actions are measurable, from renewable energy to waste-recycling and ongoing process efficiency.
