WORKSHOP: Enhancing Collaboration & Project Efficiency Using Augmented Reality

18 Mar 2026
Digital Construction (Workshop 1)
Augmented Reality (AR) and real-time rendering are emerging as powerful tools for improving collaboration and efficiency across the architectural design and construction process. Rather than serving solely as a new visualization medium, AR enables spatially aligned digital information to be shared in real-world contexts, supporting clearer communication between architects, contractors, consultants, and clients. By allowing stakeholders to experience designs at full scale and in situ, AR reduces ambiguity, streamlines decision-making, and helps identify conflicts earlier in the project lifecycle. This represents a shift away from static drawings, pre-rendered imagery, and 2D documentation toward interactive, experience-based modes of design communication. During this workshop, an XR developer will discuss how real-time rendering and spatial computing can be applied to architectural workflows, demonstrating how immersive tools support faster feedback loops, improve cross-disciplinary coordination, and enhance overall project efficiency.
