Christopher Harrison, P.E., is a civil engineer, construction manager, and permaculture practitioner and teacher who employed passive solar and passive house principles in renovations for his 1984 single-family home in Warwick, NY.  These renovations resulted in meeting winter heating needs primarily through passive solar gain and burning less than 2 cords of firewood per year in a small basement woodstove.  His current project is the design and construction of a high-efficiency cottage as an additional dwelling unit and example of sustainable and affordable housing in his region of southwestern Orange County, NY.  He is currently employed with Parsons as an Assistant Resident Engineer on the NYCDEP’s Kensico-Eastview Connection in Valhalla, NY.  He can be contacted by email at christopher.harrison@parsons.com.
