Dolly Haardt
Associate, Regional Design Technology Manager, Gensler & Women in BIM Regional Lead,
Women in BIM
Dolly earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University and later pursued a Master of Architecture degree from Rhode Island School of Design. Currently serving as the Regional Design Technology Manager for Gensler in the Southeast Region, Dolly leverages her expertise to enhance the team's technology capabilities and efficiencies. She specializes in data capture using scanners and drones, BIM strategies and workflows, task automation, and design resilience.
With over two decades of experience, Dolly's professional journey took off in New York City after graduation. She contributed to renowned firms such as the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, Acconci Studio, and Gruzen Samton Architects, playing a part in projects from concept to construction. This exposure fuelled her interest in the transformative role of technology in architecture.
Dolly took a significant career step by joining an Autodesk reseller, where she assisted architects and engineers with technology solutions. Her role involved working with project teams in implementing BIM, energy analysis, and 3D printing. She taught courses for design professionals, focusing on BIM tools ranging from Revit to Ecotect.
Driven by a desire for a deeper understanding of building and fabrication processes, Dolly became a Production Manager in a Metal Fabrication shop. Here, she implemented collaborative robot automation and digital productivity workflows, aligning with quality management system standards (ISO 9001:2015). This experience provided valuable insights into the impact of technology on dynamic workflows, ultimately leading her back to the realm of architecture and design.
Beyond her professional work, Dolly is committed to advancing equity and representation in design and technology. She serves as the Vice President of Her Spark, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and encouraging teenage girls as they pursue STEM education and future careers. She is also the Regional Lead in the Southeast for Women in BIM and the Chair of TAP (Technology in Architectural Practice) for AIA Triangle. In recognition of her service, she was honored with the 2025 AIA Triangle President’s Award for Outstanding Service.
