Ellen Zielinski serves as the Director of Sustainability for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), where she is implementing the agency’s Sustainability Agenda. With more than 160,000 permanently affordable apartments, NYCHA is the nation’s largest residential landlord. Ellen’s sustainability portfolio includes advancing waste reduction goals, installing green infrastructure, drafting NYCHA’s first Climate Adaptation Plan and working towards 25 MW of solar by 2025. Ellen previously served as both Deputy Assistant Commissioner and Director of Clean Energy and Innovation for DCAS Energy Management, where she was responsible for program implementation across NYC agencies for the achievement of municipal renewable energy targets. Ellen also managed a portfolio of energy efficiency programs to help achieve the 80% by 2050 greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal for the City’s over 4,000 municipal buildings. Ellen holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from the New York University Wagner School of Public Service.
