Emily Hoffman, Professional Engineer, is the Director of the Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP) at the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB). Emily leads the implementation for the City’s ambitious carbon law (Local Law 97) and other Sustainability Laws like the Benchmarking, Energy Grades, and Audits/Retro commissioning. Prior to OBEEP, she spent 10 years leading the DOB’s Energy Code team. Respected by peers, Emily was awarded the Energy Professional Development of the Year award in 2019 and 2020 from the Association of Energy Engineers, and named an NYC Climate Hero in 2020. Emily is a licensed mechanical engineer with a BS and MS from Washington University in St. Louis.
