Frank Mahan, AIA, NCARB
As a senior designer at SOM, Frank Mahan has worked on a variety of historic landmark, adaptive reuse, and renovation projects across the United States. Frank has returned to many of the firm’s mid-century legacy projects, including the U.S. Air Force Academy’s campus, where he led the design for the Center for Character & Leadership Development. Frank’s recent project experience also includes the repositioning of 2.6 million square feet to create Citigroup’s new global headquarters in New York City, the adaptive reuse of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, 35 Hudson Yards – the tallest residential tower at the development, One World Trade Center, and numerous other public spaces, and mid-century and prewar icons. Frank is a member of Building Design + Construction’s 40 Under 40 class of 2017, and a winner of the AIA’s 2019 Young Architect Award.
