Gabrielle Brainard
Gabrielle is an Associate Principal and enclosure specialist at SOM’s New York office. Her experience includes commercial, institutional, mixed-use and adaptive reuse projects, ranging from super-tall towers to landmarked retrofits. As a facade designer and technical architect, her goal is to apply building science fundamentals to design comfortable, durable, and efficient buildings. Gabrielle’s research has been supported by the AIA Upjohn Research Initiative and NYSERDA, and she is co-author of book of case studies of passive house retrofits, forthcoming from Routledge. Gabrielle is a licensed architect, LEED AP, and Certified Passive House Designer. She co-chairs the Education Committee of the Facade Tectonics Institute and is a member of the Rainscreen Association of North America (RAINA) Retrofit Committee. She is an adjunct professor at Columbia GSAPP and a trainer for the Passive House Network. .
