Hessam AzariJafari

Hessam AzariJafari is a Research Scientist and Executive Director of the MIT Electron-Conducting Carbon-Cement-Based Materials Hub (ec^3-hub). His research focuses on the life cycle economic and environmental impacts of buildings and infrastructure. He is a voting and advisory member of several technical committees on sustainable construction and environmental assessment, including ACI 323 – Low-Carbon Concrete Code, ACI 130 - Sustainability in Concrete (secretary), and Low-Carbon Assets through the Life Cycle Assessment Initiative (LCA^2). Hessam has been chairing the ACI 130G Committee (Concrete Sustainability – Education) and the ACI eco-concrete competition since 2017, which aims to promote and educate undergraduate engineering students on the life cycle sustainability of the built environment.
