Meredith Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa

Director, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP

Meredith Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa is a Managing Director based in SOM’s New York office. As the firmwide practice coordinator for the Higher Education Practice, she is dedicated to curating dynamic processes and planning methodologies that guide the creation of innovative learning and collaborative research environments. Her portfolio includes a range of projects, from academic programming, campus framework and master plans, to new building, conservation, and renovation projects, and reflects her expertise in the planning of urban and vertical campuses.

As both an academic planner and project manager, Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa seeks to highlight each institution’s unique pedagogical culture to shape the design of responsive physical spaces—optimizing learning, exploration, and research, and extending the possibilities of informal learning experiences beyond the classroom. She believes that great projects emerge from the dynamic exchange of ideas between design team, client group, and all constituents, including students, faculty, the wider campus community, and external partners such as city agencies and industry partners. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, she builds consensus around a shared project vision for each project—a bespoke architectural solution designed to catalyze cross-campus connectivity while responding to the institutional mission, program needs, and physical parameters at hand.

Among her projects are Barnard College’s The Milstein Center for Teaching and Learning, Wellesley College’s Science Center Renovation and Expansion, the Dalton School’s STEM Center Project, the University of Connecticut’s Tech Park Master Plan and Innovation Partnership Building, and Cornell Tech’s Framework Plan and Campus Site Development at Roosevelt Island. Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa is a member of the Society of College and University Planners (SCUP), and an active contributor to and facilitator of the Learning Spaces Collaboratory (PKAL).
