Omar El-Anwar is the Director of Process Improvement at the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) overseeing the process improvement initiatives as well as the data analytics, schedule, and risk management support. Omar holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Certified Cost Professional (AACEI), Project Management Professional (PMI) and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Omar brings more than 16 years of experience in design and construction management; both nationally and abroad. Before joining DDC, he served as director of project management and director of process improvement in private engineering firms. He also taught construction management at the University of Washington and Cairo University and has more than 50 technical publications in field.
