Sara Karerat
Managing Director,
Center for Active Design
Sara Karerat is the Managing Director of the Center for Active Design (CfAD), where she leads the organization's programmatic efforts to transform design and development practice to promote health and improve quality of life. Previously serving as Director of Applied Research, she grew the Applied Research Team and expanded organizational understanding of the connections between the built environment, public health, and economic value, while contributing to the development of new Fitwel product offerings. Karerat has authored several publications on the intersection of health and the built environment, including Healthcare: A Cure for Housing and the Research to Action: Building Health for All® in the Face of COVID-19 series. She holds a Master of Public Health from Columbia University with a certificate in Health Promotion Research and Practice.
