Studio Libeskind creates architecture that is resonant, practical and sustainable. We are renowned for our ability to create landmark structures using both innovative and traditional building solutions. Working on a global scale, we are experienced in a range of building types from large-scale master plans and cultural buildings to soaring towers.
Great architecture is more than the sum of its parts: It is a language that communicates a story and invigorates the context and community for which it is built.
We are committed to design excellence and pushing the boundaries while evolving to best meet the needs of our clients. Studio Libeskind approaches every project individually with the goal of communicating our client’s story through the power of design.
Our team is composed of thought-leaders, innovators, and experts in the field. We speak widely on architecture, design and urban planning. Our network of professionals spans the globe, as we actively build on all continents.
Daniel and his partner Nina Libeskind established Studio Daniel Libeskind in Berlin, Germany, in 1989 after winning the competition to build the Jewish Museum Berlin. In February 2003, Studio Daniel Libeskind moved its headquarters from Berlin to New York City when Daniel Libeskind was selected as the master planner for the World Trade Center redevelopment. The Studio has offices in New York and Zurich.
Glickman Schlesinger Architects was formed in 2009 in Brooklyn, NY. Since then we have worked for a decade on an extensive range of project types: residential apartments and townhouses, full-building adaptive reuse projects, and commercial projects including a gallery, a fabrication facility for a top lighting designer, a surgical suite and office for a plastic surgeon, and a new ground-up restaurant. We see our expertise anchored less in any particular use or program, but more in the particularities of renovation, taking a raw brick box or a partial rehab that has historically been many things and transforming it into its next thing.
In this way, GSA’s work is firmly rooted in New York City, a dense environment with a seemingly endless supply of interiors. Our work in these spaces has pushed us to consider the importance of the details, the way materials relate and come together. Through this we have come to focus not only on form, but the negative space that people inhabit, and the qualities of that space such as light, and color, and materiality. That forms the basis of what we do and how we approach a project. When we are given the opportunity to work on a whole building, the same considerations are at the center of our thoughts. Every building is a place, made up of its parts, and we are the ones that put the pieces together.
We have recently taken this to the next logical step and are pursuing our interest in making buildings and spaces that consider the health of its inhabitants and the health of the planet to be central to our work. We use materials that are healthy and sustainable and minimize the carbon footprint of our spaces. To advance our work in this area, we have become a certified Passive House Design Consultant.
