Alexandra (Sasha) Farrell, Owner - Barefoot & Ready
After reading the book Cradle to Cradle in 2003 during my time as an undergraduate BFA student, I was thrown down a path of Regenerative Building that I will never come back from. After studying Design @ Syracuse University I took numerous workshops on topics such as: Biophilic Design, Biomaterial Building methods, and Building Science. Volunteer work has always been a priority for me, and during this time I was the Board President of an organization that does outreach & education on Regenerative Living & Lifestyles. As a team member for a small Design Build Firm in the Hudson Valley I wore many hats. I decided to leave the company and pursue an MS in Sustainable Construction @ SUNY ESF in 2015. My thesis is on the topic of the Circular Economy Paradigm and its application for improving the Green Building world in the United States; my research heavily focused on LEED & LBC. During my time as a student I supplemented this work with Construction Management courses and Construction site experience (as a plasterer and a member of the Bricklayers Union). I currently work at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry while volunteering on the WELL portfolio team.
