Women in Construction Ambassadors

ABOUT PAGE

Katrina Echternacht, Director, Wireless Solutions - Mobilitie

My interest in construction began at a young age playing with trucks and building houses on The Sims. I pursued a BS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, graduating in 2014. After school, I dove into the world of construction head first and became a project engineer in civil site design, performing earthwork calculations, stormwater design, and utility coordination. I became particularly interested in technology and network engineering as it pertains to construction and building design and how it can help to bridge the digital divide. I pursued a role in a more technology-focused construction field and became a Network Engineer in New York City for Verizon. I was a network engineer from 2016-2022, helping to bridge the digital divide and bring internet access to millions of NYC residents who had poor or no access prior. I now work to bring wireless cellular service to all with Mobilitie's neutral-host in-building wireless infrastructure to bring cellular service to all, regardless of carrier, with the ultimate goal of bridging the digital divide. I have a special interest in affordable, multi-family development and the technology challenges that exist to bring quality internet access to all at a price developers can afford.
