Lauren Roper, Environmental Engineering - Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc.
In 2021 I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a major in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Environmental Economics and Policy. That same year I earned my Engineer in Training License (EIT) and moved to New York City to join Langan Engineering as an Environmental Consultant and Staff Engineer. My work is mostly centered around Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) sites during the remedial phase of construction. I provide construction oversight in accordance with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Over the past year I have been a part of over 10 BCP projects, from pre-construction phases with auditing and sampling to the completion of remediation with Final Engineering and Construction Closure Reporting. One of my favorite parts of being an engineer is problem solving and collaborating with others organizations and the community to meet deadlines and complete projects. I am also a part of the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) Emerging Leader's Program, and am currently studying for my LEED Green Associate Exam
