While the construction market is slowly making its way back to pre-pandemic levels, there will be some significant roadblocks that could delay its recovery including:

  1. Weak pricing - Construction companies are taking on work at or below cost to keep their workers employed

  2. Skilled worker shortage - The industry has failed to attract new workers and train new apprentices so if construction accelerates at a higher growth rate, there could be a lack of skilled workers available

  3. Increased cost of materials - The cost of goods and equipment have dramatically risen by nearly 13% from 2020 to 2021
